FAQs

HOW LONG SHOULD WE STAY?

Make a vacation out of it & come for as long as your schedule allows! You won’t be disappointed! We’ll be on the island from March 12th - 21st around the wedding festivities.

Check out the Schedule tab for the wedding events. We’ll be organizing some more fun events & activities in days before & after the wedding as well.

Can i bring my kids?

Absolutely! Holbox is super kiddo friendly, especially the shallow beaches.

For the wedding, If theres enough interest we can look into hiring an on-site childcare for the wedding day so that all the parents can relax a bit more. If you're interested in this, please message us!

Will the ceremony/reception be indoors or outdoors?

Everything will be outdoors! Holbox is HOT so wear light clothing! The venue is on a beach so keep that in mind for your dancing shoes (or bare feet work just fine too!)

CAN i bring a guest?

If your guest’s name is not on the invite, then unfortunately no 😕 We are trying to keep this an intimate affair.

How do we get to holbox?

Fly into Cancun International Airport & from there you can take a private shuttle, shared shuttle or quick flight to get to Holbox.

More information on that in the Getting to Holbox tab.

DO I NEED PESOS?

YES! Cash is King! There are only a few ATM’s on the island and they’ve been known to run out of cash. We would recommend bringing around ~$1000 pesos per day. Having said all of that, 80% of all restaurants accept major credit cards. Although there are some great night markets & lots of shops 👀

HOW DO i get around on the island?

Holbox is an adorable car-free island! Everyone gets around via walking or biking but if going further or with kiddos there are taxi golf carts that are super affordable.

Bikes - Many hotels have bikes you can rent for a small fee, this is a much faster way to get around especially during the heat of the day. Prices for a bike rental start at 35 MXN ($3 CAD) per hour.

Golf carts - Although taxi’s are everywhere and very cheap, golf carts are also available for rent for those that might need it.

whats the terrain? IS IT STROLLER FRIENDLY?

The roads are packed earth (photo here) and although usually they’re flat and dry, they can flood when it rains (which is rare but happens). The puddles dry up quick but muddy sections can stay for a bit.

DO i need a passport?

Yes, check your expiration date! For Mexico, your passport only needs to be valid during your travel dates. However some airlines require your expiration date to be at least 6 months after your travel period.

What should I bring?

Temperatures should be between 21° at night and 33° during the day. Pack light! Shorts, sandals and bathing suits will your best options.

Wedding attire - Dress code is semi-formal (theme: Prints, Patterns & Paradise). Let's get fancy but remember that the venue is on the beach. Be creative and wear whatever you feel your best in!
Water friendly shoes - On occasion the roads can flood since they aren’t paved, although this typically dries up fast in the heat of the day.
Bathing suits, hat & sunscreen - There will be lots of beach time! 🏝️☀️
Bug spray - In areas of the island it can be buggy at dusk but by no means is it anything close to our Canadian super mosquitos.
